How do I become an Australian citizen?

To become an Australian citizen contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship on 131 880. When is my ceremony? Once you have received your letter of approval from the department, the City of Fremantle‘s corporate events team will contact you by mail to confirm the next ceremony date with you.

What do I wear?

The dress is smart casual.

Who can I bring?

New citizens are allowed to bring up to four guests.

What do I bring?

Please bring one form of photo identification with you to the ceremony.

How long will it take?

The formal part of the ceremony takes approximately thirty minutes. Light refreshments will then be served.

What happens if I can‘t make the next ceremony?

Please call our events management team on 08 9432 9945 and arrangements can be made for you to attend the next ceremony.

What if I need my citizenship certificate urgently?

If you have an exceptionally urgent need for your citizenship, contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship on 131 880. They may be able to arrange a private ceremony. Please note, that you will not receive your certificate at this ceremony. It will be sent to you at least one month after the ceremony.
