Youth plan 2012-2014
Submission close date:
23/11/2011
In July 2011, the City of Fremantle completed a community
engagement process with young people and local youth agencies. 190 young
people, 16 youth agencies and 24 community members were involved in the process
through on-line surveys, focus groups and forums.
The information collected through the community engagement
process has allowed the City to develop a three year youth plan. The plan
identifies four key strategies to increase engagement with young people and
provide more activities and facilities. These include:
1.
Facilitate active youth citizenship
Create opportunities for young people to actively contribute to the City.
2.
Develop and maintain youth friendly spaces
Provide spaces in the City of Fremantle that are welcoming and friendly for
young people.
3.
Provide youth friendly events and activities
Provide a range of programs and events that encourage greater participation
of young people in community life.
4.
Support youth services
Explore opportunities to develop partnerships and build on existing networks in
the Fremantle area.
