LItter
The City of Fremantle rangers are responsible for ensuring that the provisions of the Litter Act 1979 are complied with and maintained throughout the city.
As residents we all have a responsibility for ensuring that:
- Litter is disposed of correctly.
- Household, bulk waste, commercial and industrial waste is not disposed of illegally in street bins and public places – including parks, reserves, bush land median strips.
- Illegal dumping of rubbish is reported to our rangers on 08 9432 9905.
- All garbage and waste on trailers, utilities and open trucks is properly secured and covered.
- Shopping trolleys are not abandoned in streets and parks, and returned correctly.
- Public litter bins are not set fire to.
- Cigarette butts are not dropped on the ground.
Other forms of littering include:
- bill posting
- leaflets placed on car windscreens.
The City’s rangers can impose on-the-spot fines for breaches of the Litter Act.
