Community engagement

The City of Fremantle is committed to community engagement and engages on a diverse range of issues and projects.

Here is a list of our current engagement processes:

Amendment no. 57 - increase the residential density at 19-25 Burt St, Fremantle & legal agreement - Closes 24/05/2013
The City of Fremantle proposes an amendment to its Local Planning Scheme No. 4 map to increase the residential density coding of 19-21 and 23-25 Burt Street, Fremantle from R60 to R160. The land is owned by the Department of Housing. Development at the higher density of R160 is proposed to only be permitted subject to the Department of Housing meeting the provisions of development as set out in an associated legal agreement.

Two, four storey tourist accommodation buildings – No. 43 Mews Road, Fremantle (Challenger Harbour) - Closes 27/05/2013
The City of Fremantle seeks comment on an application received proposing two, four storey tourist accommodation buildings at No. 43 Mews Road, Fremantle (Challenger Harbour). The proposed development is located in an area zoned ‘public purpose – special use’ under the Metropolitan Region Scheme. As a result, the responsible authority is the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). Additional to this, due to the proposal’s development value, final determination of the application rests with the relevant Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP). The City is required to make a recommendation to the WAPC, which in-turn makes a recommendation to the JDAP.

The City is intending to levy these differential rates in 2013–14. A statement of objects document is also available.
