Committees
Elected members from each of the six wards sit on each of the committees, with an elected member chairing the committee meetings.
There are two standing committees, and one advisory committee. Standing committees are a continuing committee of council that specialise in a particular aspect of councils functions.

Strategic and general services committee
Strategic and general services committee has delegated authority for a range of matters including policy, strategies and plans, advertising, transport, parking, traffic management, tenders, council property and more.
Members
Committee members include Cr Jon Strachan, Cr Tim Grey–Smith,Cr Doug Thompson, Cr David Hume, Cr Sam Wainwright, Cr Dave Coggin and the mayor as an ex officio member.
Meeting times
The strategic and general services committee meets at 6.00 pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Refer to the calendar for the date of the next meeting.
Planning services committee
Planning services committee has delegated authority for matters relating to planning, including planning applications, responses to the State Administrative Tribunal and the Western Australian Planning Commission, and decisions relating to planning.
Members
Committee members include Cr Andrew Sullivan, Cr Robert Fittock, Cr Rachel Pemberton, Cr Bill Massie, Cr Josh Wilson, Cr Ingrid Waltham and the mayor as an ex officio member.
Meeting times
The planning services committee meets at 6.00 pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Refer to the calendar for the date of the next meeting.
If the standing committee does not have delegated authority to deal with a particular item, it will be referred to the ordinary meeting of council for a decision.
Advisory committee
Library advisory committee
Library advisory committee is appointed by council after each local government ordinary election, to advise the City of Fremantle and the Town of East Fremantle regarding the management and control of the library.
Members
Membership comprises the mayor of the City of Fremantle and one councillor of each ward of the city, one council member of the Town of East Fremantle as appointed by the town, a maximum of four library members, not being a councillor of the city or the town at the time of appointment, and elected at the annual meeting of library members.
Meeting times
Meetings are held quarterly at 5.30pm on the second Wednesday of February, May, August and November in the City of Fremantle Committee Room.
