Council groups and committees
A key role of council is to develop strategy and policy - community input is vital to this process. By adopting a project based system of working and advisory groups and committees that focus on a key strategic issue, a number of key strategies or policies can be developed in partnership with the community.
The City of Fremantle has established numerous working groups, advisory committees, governance committees, and external committees to assist in this process. The below table contains a list of the currently active groups - please click on the working group title for more information:

- Provide an independent oversight of the City's financial systems, financial reporting and audit responsibilities.

- Develop specific recommendations for council's consideration for the expenditure of the funds raised through the differential rate.

- Assessed the variety of ways in which City authorities could address and respond to both real and community perceived safety issues.

| Cultural development |
- Delivered a cultural development strategy that identified short, medium and long term actions to develop and maintain the city's diverse character.

City centre strategic sites review

| Economic development |
- Delivered an economic strategy which identified short, medium and long term actions to grow Fremantle's economy.

| South Terrace improvements project |
- Delivered an urban design solution which identified the vision and core principles for the future traffic management and design of South Terrace.
