Innovative new sports program to offer late night alternatives for youths - 04/05/2012
Young people who live in Fremantle can now show off their best dunks, alley oops and rapid dribbling skills every Saturday night at the Fremantle PCYC. The City’s late night basketball program gives Fremantle youth between 12 and 17 years something safe and fun to do during the evenings as well as giving them a chance to meet other local youth.

As part of the City’s commitment to saving water, increasing biodiversity and verge beautification, the City and APACE nursery are offering residents native plants for their private property at the subsidised price of $1.50 per tube.

Yellow top bin collections to continue as normal - 30/04/2012
The City advises residents that your yellow top recycling bin collections will not be affected by the recent fire at the Hive Resource Recovery on Bennett Avenue, North Coogee. The City had been using this facility but has made alternative arrangements to ensure your yellow top bin waste continues to be recycled as normal.

Planning changes to help streamline business applications in Fremantle - 27/04/2012
The City of Fremantle Council last night (24 April 2012) adopted recommendations which will streamline the process for businesses applying to operate in the Fremantle city centre. The amendment to the City’s Local Planning Scheme (scheme amendment 52) will mean the majority of businesses applying to trade in Fremantle will no longer need to apply for planning approvals when using existing premises for uses including restaurants, small bars, offices and shops.

Slow down, it's term 2 - 23/04/2012
Motorists are reminded to slow down and take extra precaution around school areas this week as students head back to school for term 2. A 40 km/h speed limit applies on the weekdays within all school zones from 7.30 to 9.00 am and 2.30 to 4.00 pm.

Kings Square precinct urban design strategy - 23/04/2012
The City is seeking feedback on Fremantle’s Kings Square precinct design strategy. An open day will be held at Kings Square from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm on Saturday 28 April where you can view the draft plans and ask questions on a one-to-one basis.

The Sir Hughie Edwards derby to be played on Saturday 28 April 2012 - 23/04/2012
The City would like to correct the derby information printed in this week's Fremantle Herald article 'Anzac crowds expected' (21/04/12). The Sir Hughie Edwards derby has been moved this year from ANZAC Day Wednesday 25 to Saturday 28 April 2012 at East Fremantle Oval. This is due to the WAFL unwilling to change the fixtures to coincide with ANZAC Day.
