Crossovers
A crossover is the path that allows a vehicle to access a property between the road pavement and the property line or footpath where one exists. Any crossover that is intended to be built needs to conform to the City of Fremantle's crossover specifications.
Prior to commencement of any works, you must complete a crossover application form together with a diagram/sketch of the proposed location of the crossover and submit it to the City of Fremantle for approval, This is a separate approval after development approval from our planning department.
Residents may elect to have the crossover completed by the City or engage a private contractor to complete the works. In either case the City of Fremantle will contribute up to 50% of the costs of a standard single crossover per rateable lot (asphalt crossovers are not entitled to a crossover rebate).
Where a resident elects to have the City build the crossover, the 50% rebate will be calculated and deducted from the quote sent to the resident.
If you are wishing to upgrade your existing crossover, you must complete the application for upgrading crossover and if requested, a quotation will be forwarded to you.
The crossover application fee is $57 inclusive of GST.
The maintenance and upkeep of a crossover is the responsibility of the owner.

Crossover approvals
Whether you are creating a new crossover, upgrading, altering or moving an existing crossover, an application must be submitted to the City along with plans and/or drawings. Approval must be granted before any work commences.
City of Fremantle rebates
If a private contractor constructs your crossover and it complies with the City of Fremantle's crossover specifications, you are entitled to claim a crossover rebate up to half the cost of a standard crossover, to a maximum of $487.05. This rebate can be claimed by submitting the crossover rebate application form.
