Welcome to The Meeting Place (TMP)

The Meeting Place is a service of the City Of Fremantle, one of the few local government councils to provide community services and support to a community learning centre. TMP provides adult community education, community support and is home to the Fremantle Volunteer Service.

The centre aims to facilitate a sense of identity and belonging to the wider community so that genuine and effective community participation can eventuate. Staff and the centre activities actively link community members in a way that leads to the creation of their future and the achievement of their full potential.

TMP has a creative and innovative approach that encourages and develops community participation. Through this approach, TMP is able to provide unique education and lifestyle opportunities to participants.

We Believe

  • Community comes first
  • In the exchange of diverse ideas and backgrounds
  • People create their own future
  • World environment education is a priority to inspire, acknowledge and support its people.

TMP is inclusive and supports intergenerational programmes

TMP PROVIDES

Community Education

Program Officers at TMP develop four seven-week terms of innovative, creative community educational courses each year. The courses provided are delivered by local community members who have a passion for what they teach and a willingness to share their knowledge. Courses and seminars are offered in comfortable and informal surroundings at TMP and other venues around Fremantle.

Community Support

Information and referral about other services in Fremantle and surrounding areas are displayed on community notice boards. Support, Self Help and Community groups also meet regularly at the centre. Staff at the centre are there to make you feel welcome and offer a high standard of customer service.
