Fremantle Fesitval registration
Sunday 28 October–Sunday 11 November 2012
The Fremantle Festival is Australia longest running festival and 2012 will be the 107 year! Shaped by our community passion, diversity and imagination your ideas and events are crucial in developing the festival.
There are many ways you can be involved in the fremantle festival:
Submit an event to be included in the festival program
In 2011 over 100 Freo folk developed events or performances for the festival. If you’ve got a great idea for an event we want to know. 2011 events ranged from a tweed run bike ride, a huge interactive ukulele concert, comedy nights and an installation of cardboard kangaroos. We have three venues available for performers throughout the festival. The Town Hall (capacity approx 500), Kings Square and the Black Box theatre (capacity approx 50). Register your event for the Fremantle Festival here.
Children's Fiesta
Entertain and delight children and families by holding a stall, activity or performance at this major fremantle festival event. In 2011 City of Fremantle bought in a giant sticky maze to support this event but the performance stage was filled with our local stars including the musical talents of Beaconsfield Primary. Cool Critters, Incredibubble and Texta Columns were some of the free hands on activities to inspire children at this event. Register to be part of the childrens fiesta here.
Wardarnji
Get involved in this Aboriginal cultural festival by hosting a stall, activity or gracing the stage with a performance. This major fremantle festival event is a celebration of Nyoongar culture held at the Fremantle Arts Centre. 2011 emerging aboriginal artists played the courtyard stage including Lee West, Kristel Kickett and Jamahl Ryder. The south lawn stage was packed with dancing including Urban Youth Effect–Hip Hop Dance Crew and traditional dance lessons got the audience involved. Register to be part of the Wardarnji here.
Norfolk Lanes
Be part of Norfolk Lanes Youth Festival by holding a stall or activity for 12–25 year olds. As well as exceptional music this festival includes vintage stalls, skateboard demos and urban art activities. Register to be part of norfolk lanes here.
Street Parade
Anybody can create an entry for the Street Parade. The 2012 theme is still being decided but you can flex your artistic muscle and interpret the theme as broadly as you wish to create a spectacular float. Register to be part of the street parade here.
