Preschool swim programs
The strength of our pre-school program is that we teach your child to swim in deep water. Safety skills including climbing out of the pool, resurfacing and floating are also a prominent part of our program.
Enrolment is either of the first two levels if possible without an assessment however if you believe your child should be in any other level, please call reception to book a free assessment.
All lessons are 30 minutes in duration and there are a maximum of four children in each level.
Jellyfish – beginner level
This level is for those children who are not confident in water. The aim of this level is to teach confidence in deep water including basic water safety skills. We suggest parents bring their bathers, as they may be required to assist their child in the water.
Goldfish
The aim of this level is to achieve a horizontal body position for the front swim with a splashy kick and pulling arms, as well as an independent back and front float for 3-5 seconds. The continuation of survival skills from the aqua baby program is also a feature of this level.
Starfish
A strong, regular flutter kick and confident skills on the back are emphasised in this level.
Rainbowfish
The main aim of this level is to achieve general strength with a regular flutter kick on front and back.
Swordfish
This level includes safety skills, introduction to freestyle and backstroke as well as consolidating front and back swimming.
Flyingfish
This is our highest level and is equivalent to our second and third level of our school age program. The main aim of this level is to build on the skills learnt in Swordfish and introduce freestyle breathing and breaststroke kick.
Skill passbooks
Skill passbooks are issued to all pre-school students. This is an exciting and rewarding way for your child to monitor their own progress and understand the various skills they are working towards. Replacement passbooks must be purchased if lost.
Children are not permitted to enter the designated swim school areas prior to the teacher arriving to start the lesson.
While in the centre, children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult in and around water.
