Artists unite for Harmony Day concert
Talented musicians from Rhythm Fix and the Golden Koala Multicultural Children’s Festival are among the many artists who will be celebrating Australia’s diverse community at the Harmony Week Concert to be held on Thursday, 19 March at the Fremantle Village Art Market.
Alistair, Marty and Stacey who make up African percussionist ensemble Rhythm Fix are considered local legends of the Freo music scene and they will be performing and running an African percussion workshop at the concert.
Rosie, Justin, and Sebastian from the Golden Koala Multicultural Children’s festival are just a few of the young singers and dancers who be showcasing dance and music from varying backgrounds and in difference languages.
These two musical groups, contrasting in age, style, and backgrounds, will join other guest performers, Young Bloods Indigenous Dance Troupe , Paul Gioia, and Junkadelic in celebrating our dynamic, colourful and vibrant society at the Free Harmony Week concert.
City of Fremantle’s Community Development Officer, Michelle Hovane is looking forward to the event.
“We are particularly excited about having the dynamic Young Bloods Dance Troupe performing again after they were such a great hit at Harmony Day last year. This group arose from a very successful community dance project based at the Fremantle PCYC in Hilton last year and it’s great to hear they are still thriving”.
The Harmony Week Concert activities begin at 12:15pm at the Village Art Market in Kings Square Fremantle and finish around 4.30pm.
Activities on the day also include banner painting, interactive art activities and workshops based around the theme of Fremantle’s diverse culture.
Harmony Week is a unique West Australian event that runs from the 15 to the 21st of March.
The Village Art Market runs every Thursday from 10am to 5pm at Kings Square Fremantle, next to the town Hall.
