Mental Health

Mental Health

Mental Health is impacted by genetic predisposition, physical activity, nutrition, social factors, the physical environment and economic factors. Good mental health is a sense of wellbeing with high self-esteem. It enables us to fully enjoy and appreciate other people and day-to-day life. With good mental health we’re able to; form positive relationships, reach our potential and deal with life’s challenges as they come.

The City’s role in relation to mental health is to raise awareness of mental illness; reduce the stigma attached to mental illness, encourage good mental health through seeking professional help and encouraging healthy lifestyle practices. The City is not a mental health care provider, but will explore opportunities to support the community in this area.

The City actively collaborates with mental health organisations like: Fremantle Headspace, Ferns House, Ruah and ARAFMI on events and workshops held in the City.  Opportunities for partnerships and awareness raising programs are frequently sought.
