Photo - Fremantle History Museum

The Fremantle History Museum is one of Fremantle's most significant landmarks. Built by the convicts in the early 1860's to house the 'insane' it was known as the asylum.

The Museum now showcases the social history and heritage of Fremantle and Western Australia.

A range of changing exhibitions are on offer exploring various aspects of Western Australian history. There are major displays on the post-war immigration boom and the building itself.

The building is rumoured to have a resident ghost.

Location

Cnr Ord and Finnerty Streets, Fremantle, Western Australia.
