About us
Fremantle Community Legal Centre provides a range of legal and non-legal services to low income members of the local community.
We are a non-profit organisation and have been operating for more than 30 years, managed by the City of Fremantle.
Our aim is to provide clients with a service that is specific to their needs. We promote basic human rights including:
- affordable housing
- access to reasonable living standards
- equality
- dignity.
With this aim in mind, we provide clients with a variety of support services to resolve legal, economic or social issues.
Eligibility for services
Most of our services are for people living within our specific catchment areas and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- financially disadvantaged
- are from a culturally and linguistically diverse background
- experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- experiencing family and domestic violence
- children are at risk of harm, abuse or family and domestic violence
- significant mental health issues or disabilities.
Make an enquiry
There are exceptions to our eligibility criteria. If you are unsure if you would be eligible to access our service, please contact us, send an online enquiry or apply for family violence information.
As our service is funded to help those most in need, when you contact us we will ask you questions about your employment status or income level. If you are unsure if you would be eligible to access our service, please contact us or send an enquiry.
We provide support in certain areas of law; if we are unable to assist you with you matter we will refer you to a service that may help.
If you request ongoing assistance and we are unable to provide it, we will provide you with an appropriate referral.
Fees
Depending on your financial position we charge for legal advice, document drafting and other services. All new clients are required to pay a non-refundable administration fee of $10.
This fee is to secure your appointment and is payable prior to your initial appointment (EFT, Visa, Mastercard) or in cash.

We also offer a low fixed-fee service to clients who are not eligible for our regular service. We offer this service on a case-by-case basis following a thorough assessment.
The cost of this service is discussed at the time an assessment is undertaken.
