Freo YA Book Club

Each month the Young Adult (YA) Book Club get together to discuss a YA novel of their choice.
Held at The Meeting Place

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday book clubs

Meeting monthly at the following venues and times:
Monday book club: 2-4pm at The Meeting Place
Tuesday book club:  10.30am-12.30pm at Fremantle Library
Wednesday book club: 2-3pm at Fremantle Library
All $10 per quarter

Fremantle Book Club

Fremantle Book Club is for everyone who loves to read and loves Freo, running January - Dec 2020. Fremantle Book Club is an initiative of Fremantle Library and Fremantle Press. A new book will be selected each quarter, with a special event with the author at the end of the quarter. Join the Facebook and Goodreads groups to find out which book is next, and connect with likeminded literary fans.   

Film screenings

Film screenings from our Kanopy collection are on Wednesdays from 12.30pm. 


Over 55 activities

The Wanjoo Lounge, located at the back of the Library, offers lots of free activities and a space for tea and a chat. Regular groups include including Chair Yoga, tech help and a sewing group. See the Positive Aging page and Eventbrite for upcoming events.   



It's All About Rhyme for 0-2 years

Come and learn new rhymes and songs in an interactive activity your baby will love.  Enjoy sharing books, meeting and talking with new friends.
Tuesdays 9.30am during school terms 

It's All About Story for 2-5 years

Introduce your child to stories and reading, enjoy rhymes and craft and interact with other children. 
Thursdays 9.30am during school terms 

Better Beginnings

Supports parents in reading to children, helping them to develop necessary literacy skills to become good readers and succeed at school. Collect a Better Beginnings parent toolkit with a beautiful board book for your baby from your child health nurse or from the Library. Visit Better Beginnings for more information. 

Buster It's All About Play

Free, multi-sensory, hands-on, active and child-centred program that offers creative and fun opportunities for families to learn and play together. Ages 0-5
Runs during school term, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Toy Library

Membership of the Fremantle Toy Library is open to families and community groups, including playgroups, parent groups and centres. Borrow toys, games, costumes, puzzles and ride ons to assist your child’s development through play. Membership fees apply, with concession rates for Centrelink card holders.  Toy library membership also includes automatic Fremantle Library membership. Loans from the library are additional to toy library loans.  

Young People


Young people who use code to develop apps, games and websites are invited to bring their own inspiration, ideas and knowledge into the Dojo. Develop your skills in Scratch and much more! Mentors are on hand to help learn new skills and solve problems. Bookings are essential but you can join at any time if there are vacancies.

Freo Plays
