Children's Library

Picture books, board books, easy readers, DVDs and fiction can be found in the Children's Library.
Currently junior non-fiction can be found in the main non-fiction section. Stories in different languages are available in the community languages section.

Our rhymetime and storytime sessions have ceased until further notice. This is purely a precautionary measure to keep our young people and their carers safe. We will review the term 2 sessions closer to the time.

It's All About Rhyme for 0-2 years

Come and learn new rhymes and songs in an interactive activity your baby will love.  Enjoy sharing books, meeting and talking with new friends.
Tuesdays 9.30am during school terms 


It's All About Story for 2-5 years

Introduce your child to stories and reading, enjoy rhymes and craft and interact with other children.
Thursdays 9.30am during school terms 


Better Beginnings

Supports parents in reading to children, helping them to develop necessary literacy skills to become good readers and succeed at school. Collect a Better Beginnings parent toolkit with a beautiful board book for your baby from your child health nurse or from the Library. Visit Better Beginnings for more information. 


Buster It's All About Play

We have made the difficult decision to cease our Buster It’s All About Play sessions until further notice. This is purely a precautionary measure. Sessions will be cancelled from Tuesday 17 March, 2020. We will review the term 2 sessions closer to the time.

Free, multi-sensory, hands-on, active and child-centred program that offers creative and fun opportunities for families to learn and play together. Ages 0-5

Runs during school term, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday - check the Buster page for term locations.  


Toy Library

Membership of the Fremantle Toy Library is open to families and community groups, including playgroups, parent groups and centres. Toy library membership also includes automatic Fremantle Library membership. Loans from the library are additional to toy library loans.  


Storybox Library

Story Box Library is a subscription based educational website, created for children to view stories by local authors and illustrators, being read aloud by fantastic, predominantly Australian and New Zealand, storytellers. Follow the link on the Downloads page for access. 

Kanopy Kids

Free unlimited streaming of children's videos including ABC Kids. Visit the Kanopy website, create an account and click on the Kanopy Kids link on the homepage. 

Busy Things

Busy Things provides educational games and activities for ages 3-11, learning skills in language, math, art, music and more. 


Young People

Young adult collection

We have a section dedicated to Young Adult fiction, alongside graphic novels and manga. Send us your requests for the collection. 


Young people who use code to develop apps, games and websites are invited to bring their own inspiration, ideas and knowledge into the Dojo. Develop your skills in Scratch and much more! Mentors are on hand to help learn new skills and solve problems. Bookings are essential but you can join at any time if there are vacancies.

Freo Plays

Have a go at Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Labo, LEGO robots, Minecraft and board games.

Download music, magazines, ebooks and audiobooks

Freegal offers thousands of songs and albums from the Sony catalogue. Three MP3s per week can be downloaded per card.
Download magazines from RBDigital via the app, or read online.
Ebooks and audiobooks are available via Overdrive and Borrowbox.


Study spaces

The library has a small number of desks and seating areas suitable for study on a first come, first served basis. There are also some powerpoints and a chargebar for devices.
