The City of Fremantle is committed to the ongoing employment of Indigenous employees across a range of job types from traineeships, apprenticeships, and from administration to positions that require tertiary qualifications.
Our commitment is based on the fact Indigenous Australians bring with them a wealth of experience, expertise, knowledge and skills that will inform, enrich and fundamentally improve the work that we do. We want our workforce to be reflective of all the citizens of our community.
The City of Fremantle Indigenous Employment Action Plan strategy is to target Indigenous workforce of 4% to be achieved by 2015 and focus on the recruitment and retention of Indigenous employees through:
- identifying entry level positions within the City’s business units
- encouraging suitable qualified Indigenous employees to apply for vacancies
- encouraging the recruitment of Indigenous staff to all business units of the City
- develop and retain our Indigenous staff through professional development opportunities by creating a culturally safe and inclusive work environment.
All traineeships and apprenticeships are advertised on the career opportunities page.
The City of Fremantle promotes a workplace that actively seeks to include, welcome and value unique contributions of all people. The City is age friendly and encourages people with disabilities, Indigenous Australians, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
