Traineeships and apprenticeships

We now welcome expression of interest from people who would like to be considered for a traineeship opportunity commencing in early 2019.

Traineeships run for a period of between 12 and 18 months. During this time you will work 37.5 hours per week and traineeship wages will apply.

The business units that may support traineeships in the up and coming program are:

  • Operations Centre which includes the recycling plant
  • Community Development
  • Communications
  • Library
  • Leisure Centre
  • Parks and Gardens
  • Planning

As a trainee you will learn valuable practical skills, theoretical knowledge and of course appropriate professional workplace behaviour.  The City believes all of these things will prepare you to find suitable employment in your chosen fields in the future.

  1. Prepare a cover letter which states what you are interested in.
  2. Prepare a Resume that outlines where you went to school, your work history (if you have any) and the names and current contact details of two referees.

All expressions of interest should be sent to  on or before 3.00pm Western Australian time on 9 October 2018.

Unfortunately, late expressions of interest or expressions of interest sent directly to the City will not be able to be considered.

The City and Skillinvest welcome expressions of interest from service providers who work alongside candidates.  The same process applies and the team at Skillinvest are very open to working in partnership with you to achieve outcomes with your clients.

For all enquires and questions regarding the Traineeship Program, please call Julie Stephens on either 1300 135 008 or mobile:  0409 859 969.

Shortlisting will commence on 10 October and the first round of interviews with Skillinvest shall take place up to 31 October.

The second round of interviews shall commence on 19 November.  Final outcomes shall be communicated in writing towards the end of November and all candidates who have been interviewed will receive correspondence.

If you have any access needs that may require reasonable adjustments to allow you to fully participate in he application and interview process, please contact the above for more job related information.  If you are an Aboriginal person who would like assistance with your application, please contact the Jobs and Skills Centre on136 464.
