City Ward
Elected until 2023
Rachel Pemberton has served as a City Ward Councillor for Fremantle since 2011.
With a professional background in Marketing and Public Relations and a passion for sustainable cities, Rachel takes a hands-on and collaborative approach to the revitalisation of Fremantle.
Rachel’s extensive professional experience in the government, arts and community sectors provides a solid foundation for delivering results for the people of Fremantle. This is complemented by postgraduate studies in urban planning, community engagement, sustainable cities, economics and climate change and project management, plus eight years as Campaign Advisor to Senator Scott Ludlam— focusing on his sustainable city’s portfolio work including transport, housing, waste, and communications issues.
Rachel’s goal is to strengthen and diversify the local economy to ensure resilience and employment opportunities. She also would like to see the Walyalup Reconciliation Action Plan implemented, including establishing a more suitable and vibrant Aboriginal Cultural Centre.
She currently works as a professional development trainer, a consultant for the not-for-profit sector and in customer service for the WA Museum sites in Fremantle.
Rachel has been participating in Fremantle’s civic life since she was aged seven and loves to work collaboratively and constructively with stakeholders, community members and colleagues to deliver outcomes for our city.
Rachel loves almost everything about Freo, but a highlight for her are the hot summer days on the cool grass in the shade at South Beach with her dog Madoo.
