East Ward
Elected until 2023
Su Groome was elected in 2019.
Su has lived in Fremantle since 2012 and co-facilitated the White Gum Valley Precinct group from 2014–19.
She is a qualified architect and has skills and interest in design, planning, sustainability, and community engagement. She has been the director of a small business and has held executive leadership roles in a consulting engineering company and non-profit community housing organisation.
Currently, she works with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services in community disaster resilience. She also volunteers with the Youth Focus Hawaiian Ride for Youth.
Su aims to re-focus on smaller projects and improvements that make a difference for our community in their everyday activities; and at the same time plan to ensure an inclusive, creative, sustainable, and lively future for Fremantle in a time of big changes.
Su loves Freo’s local arts and artists who keep us thinking; the bookshops open late at night; the food and bars that just get better and funkier; the river, beaches, hills, trees, port, and heritage streetscapes. But most of all, Sue loves our friendly and big-hearted community.
