Since December 2021 the City of Fremantle has aimed to increase accessibility at Leighton Beach by installing infrastructure. Partially funded by a grant awarded by the Department of Social Services, the beach now has one of the most accessible shorelines in the Perth metropolitan area.  

We are currently collecting feedback regarding the matting location, closed on the 1st of February 2023.

A large majority of the survey respondents gave positive feedback for the new location; hence the City of Fremantle will leave the matting in its current location until the end of April.
