Neighbour to Neighbour: Helping each other in a time of crisis

We are providing assistance to members of the community facing unprecedented challenges and increasing isolation due to COVID-19.

The Neighbour to Neighbour project aims to support communities at high risk of being impacted by the threats of COVID-19, including seniors, people with a disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and Indigenous people.

Through the Neighbour to Neighbour initiative, we can all look out for each other and show a little kindness.

Do you need assistance?

If you require assistance now or may need assistance in the near future register your details here.

The City will do its best to match you with a community volunteer in your local area that may be able to assist in the following ways:

  • Phone check in
  • Picking up groceries or supplies
  • Dog walking
  • Other tasks can be requested and will be addressed on an individual basis

Should you wish to look for support independently the Western Australian Council of Social Service has developed a great directory of emergency relief service providers - ERConnect

This can be used to search for food relief, financial counsellors, and emergency accommodation, among other services, and get a list of services that can provide assistance in the location that is convenient.

Please note that the City must adhere to all state and federal regulations so this page will be regularly updated.

Can you help your neighbour?

We are looking for volunteers to help seniors and vulnerable people who are socially isolated in our local community.

Whether it’s helping someone with their grocery shopping and dog walking or other errands – any little assistance you can offer will go a long way for someone in need.

Please fill out this short online form to register as a volunteer and we will put you in direct contact with residents in your area requesting assistance. The volunteer sign-up forms are also available in printed format and will be available across the community.

When volunteering your time, please remember that COVID-19 is contagious. Please take every precaution to ensure you are spreading only kindness. Avoid physical contact (2m distance) and wash your hands regularly.
