(28/6/2019) Winterworld Fremantle is on again

Fremantle’s Esplanade Reserve will once again be transformed into a winter wonderland when Winterworld Fremantle opens tomorrow.

Featuring Australia’s largest open-air ice skating rink, a snow pit, the Synergy power slide, an enchanted winter forest with unicorns, the National Hotel cabin bar, markets, fire pits, and arts and crafts, Winterworld will run right through the school holidays until 21 July.

Mayor Brad Pettitt said the City of Fremantle was delighted to welcome back Perth’s most iconic and exciting winter event.

“Winterworld has operated for the past three years and draws over 80,000 people to Fremantle in the winter months from all over the country,” Mayor Pettitt said.

“This year marks the first of a three-year partnership between the City of Fremantle and Winterworld to ensure Fremantle continues to be the home of this great event.

“Support of events like Winterworld forms a key component of the work being delivered as part of the City’s Destination Marketing Strategic Plan and the ‘This is Fremantle’ campaign.

“In addition to Winterworld, we’ve also got the Fremantle Festival: 10 nights in Port coming up from July 12-21, with all sorts of free and ticketed events including music, theatre, visual arts and film.

“This will be the first time the Fremantle Festival has been staged as a winter festival, so there really is no better place to be this winter than Fremantle.”
