(4/11/2019) Have your say on Boo Park community facility

The City of Fremantle is inviting local residents to have their say on the use and function of a proposed new community facility at Booyeembara Park.

The new community facility is proposed as part of a larger building which will also serve as a new clubhouse for the Fremantle Public Golf Course.

The new community facility and clubhouse are necessary to accommodate the upgrade of High Street by Main Roads WA.

The road upgrade will encroach onto the golf course and required the recent demolition of the former community facility at 26 Montreal Street.

As part of the High Street project Main Roads will fund a program of accommodation works to include the remediation of the golf course, a replacement golf clubhouse and a replacement community facility.

Last month a committee of Fremantle Council endorsed progressing the development of a concept to co-locate the new clubhouse and community facility in one building on a site bordering the golf course and Boo Park.

It’s anticipated the new community facility would provide a flexible space that would be available for hire for a range of uses.

The City is now asking local residents and potential hirers what kind of activities they would like to have at the new facility and how often they think they would use it.

The potential new facility is on the agenda to be discussed at the White Gum Valley Precinct meeting at the White Gum Valley Primary School Library at 7:30pm tomorrow night.

A visit to the site of the new clubhouse and community facility will also be included in a guided walk around the Knutsford precinct on 23 November. More details about the Knutsford Walk Around will be available soon.

The public comment period closes on 1 December. For more information and to have your say visit the My Say Freo website.
