(5/11/2019) New plans for Woolstores shopping centre

New plans for the redevelopment of the Woolstores shopping centre have been submitted to the City of Fremantle.

The proposal is for a six storey mixed-use development including the refurbishment of the existing supermarket and specialty stores on the ground floor, new commercial office space, a child care centre and a 141-room hotel.

A basement car park accessed from Elder Place will accommodate parking for the hotel, retail and childcare, as well as end of trip facilities and loading and services.

The plans also include a five level space for a new police station and additional parking.

A community information session on the new plans will be held from 5:30-6pm on Wednesday 27 November at the City of Fremantle offices at Fremantle Oval.

More information and details of the proposal can be found on the My Say Freo website or can be viewed at the City’s customer service desk.

The plans are out for public comment until Wednesday 4 December.

Once the public comment period has concluded, all submissions will be reviewed and a report will be considered by the City’s Planning Committee before being referred to the Joint Development Assessment Panel for a final decision.

The Woolstores shopping centre is subject to Amendment 49 in Fremantle’s Local Planning Scheme, which provides allowances for additional building height and density in 12 key development sites Fremantle’s city centre and East End.
