The rates you pay are a contribution towards the cost of providing facilities and services to you and your local community.
These services include waste management, recreational facilities, public parks and gardens, roads and footpaths, health, drainage, building controls , public art, festivals, CCTV and other security measures and much, much more.
Annually the City of Fremantle sets a “rate in the dollar” and a “minimum payment” amount that is applied to all rateable properties. Rates are calculated by multiplying the gross rental value (GRV) of your property (which is supplied by Landgate Property and Valuation Services), by the “rate in the dollar”. Where this calculation fails to equate to the “minimum payment”, then the “minimum payment” is levied on the property. Any queries relating to the GRV are to be directed to Property and Land Valuation Services by calling 08 9273 7373 and quote the VEN number stated on your annual rate notice.
