Household recycling (yellow top bin)

Yellow topped bins are emptied fortnightly on the same day as your green bin, except where an alternative day has been agreed for some residential properties within the Fremantle CBD area.

Find my bin day using Intramaps.

The waste received in the yellow top recycling bins are mechanically sorted at the RRRC to separate recyclable streams such as paper, cardboard, metal, glass and various grades of plastics. These products are then sold to other companies for use in making new products.  Items should be loose (not in plastic bags) and if possible, rinsed.

The following items can be recycled:

  • glass bottles, rinsed jars and containers with lids off
  • light globes and broken glass
  • plastic bottles, including icecream containers, juice and milk containers
  • aluminium, cans and foils
  • steel cans
  • aerosol cans
  • cling wrap
  • polystyrene
  • glass, including light globes and broken glass
  • liquid paperboard, including fruit juice and dairy cartons
  • foam meat trays
  • paper, cardboard products, including wax cartons, junk mail, pizza boxes and magazines
  • plastic cutlery
  • empty plastic shopping bags.

Please do not put the following items in your yellow topped bin:

  • green waste
  • clothing / shoes
  • electrical appliances
  • hazardous materials including paint, asbestos and chemicals.
