Swan River Crossings Project - Fremantle Traffic Bridge
Construction of bridge abutment foundations and retaining walls is required to support the deck of the new bridge. Works include:
- Piling.
- Major excavation works.
- Compaction works.
- Removal of the four orbs from the bridge.
To provide a safe environment for workers and the wider community, traffic changes are required, including closure of the shared path on the Fremantle Traffic Bridge to pedestrians and cyclists from late January 2025 until project completion (end of 2026). Signs will be placed at either end of the bridge (and on both sides) showing the detour route and bus movements.
Upcoming traffic changes:
Fremantle Traffic Bridge: Between Canning Highway and Swan Street - Sunday 19 January to Thursday 23 January 2025 - 7pm to 6am each night
- Closure of the Fremantle Traffic Bridge. Use Stirling Highway to travel between North Fremantle and Fremantle.
- The shared path will be closed, with pedestrians and cyclists detoured via Stirling Highway.
- No changes to PTA buses services - buses can travel through the bridge worksite.
