Wanjoo Welcome Lounge

The Wanjoo Welcome Lounge (formally known as the 'One Stop Shop) is a free community space for people over the age of 55 years and is opened Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm and is located at the back of the library at Fremantle Oval.

The Over 55s volunteers invite you to join them for a cuppa, read the daily newspaper, have a chat with other visitors, or access all the library services (computers, books and magazines, etc). 

The lounge has comfortable chairs and a kitchen with a connecting courtyard.

Please contact the Positive Ageing Officer on 1300 MYFREO (1300 693 736) to make an enquires about ongoing groups that are running at the City. 

Finding activities and events

What’s On  gives you all the details of the City’s community activities and events and is regularly updated. The events and/or activities may be free or low cost and activities can run for several weeks to allow all participants a chance to fully enjoy the experience.

The Meeting Place is a community centre, which provides a range of unique courses, workshops, events and talks reflecting Fremantle's diverse community. The centre supports lifelong learning, helps people share and develop their skills and connect with other community members. 

Fremantle Leisure Centre provides a various group fitness classes for the Over 55s community including EzyMoves, AquaROM, ZumbaGold, and Pilates 55+. View the class schedule.

Fremantle Men’s Community Shed is a local community shed initiative that evolved from an idea that men in Fremantle could benefit from having a "tooled-up" shed facility to work on projects, either their own or community ones. The Men's Shed is staffed by volunteers and supported by the City of Fremantle.

Memory Café by Fremantle Arts Centre

Join Freo Memory Café. Our monthly group provides support to people living with dementia and those around them. Come and meet other like-minded people over coffee in a casual, friendly and beautiful environment.

People living with dementia or those who care for a loved one with dementia are invited to join us for a coffee and chat at Fremantle Arts Centre every second Tuesday of the month from 9.30am in the Front Garden. Visit the Memory Cafe page for further details.

Together Again Café

Reconnect with your community at the Together Again Café. Join us every month for a free morning tea, friendly company and live entertainment.

Do you have a neighbour who lives on their own and might be little lonely? Invite them, offer help with registering their attendance or organise transport to the morning tea.

When: Fourth Wednesday of each month 10.30–11.45am

Forget-me-not Memory Café

Are you, a family member, or someone you care for living with Dementia? You are not alone. Come along and join others travelling the same road, for a coffee and chat in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

When: Every third Thursday of every month, 10am–12noon
Where: Ladies Auxiliary Kiosk – level 5, Fremantle Hospital, Alma Street
