Verge collections


Residential properties receive one free green waste and one bulk waste collection service per financial year.

  • hazardous materials such as chemicals, paint and oil*
  • liquids
  • plates (sheet) glass, mirrors and shower screens
  • tyres, car bodies and other car parts
  • waste from commercial properties and schools.

AllowedNot allowed
  • Tree trunks, branches and shrub prunings up to 1.5 metres in length and 30cm in diameter
  • Two trailer loads (6x4 trailer size) or two cubic metres of green waste.
  • General rubbish, junk or white goods
  • Bags or boxes of leaves, loose leaves or grass clippings
  • Dug out lawn, weeds or root materials
  • Sand and soil materials.

Donate or sell

Before placing good items on the verge for collection, consider either donating them or on-selling them.

Find your local charity store at

Sell your items at a garage sale, or online via Buy and Sell groups, Facebook Marketplace or a swap group.

Fremantle Recycling Centre

In addition to the annual bulk waste or green verge collection, residents can use their valid bulk drop off letter vouchers and proof of residence to drop bulk items at the Fremantle Recycling Centre. One 6x4 trailer load of clean green waste including shrub and tree pruning (up to 1.5m in length and 30cm in diameter) will be accepted on each visit and proof of residence is required.


Households with the three-bin FOGO service are encouraged to use their weekly FOGO bin for regular disposal of smaller green waste including prunings, grass clippings and weeds.


For damaged bulk items not able to be placed out for the verge collection or recycled at the Fremantle Recycling Centre, you may need to dispose of these items at a landfill facility. These landfills are not run by the City of Fremantle, so fees will apply:
