The City of Fremantle offers opportunities for the community and school groups to learn about waste-related topics including what to place in bins, what happens to waste, other services like Fremantle Containers for Change or learning a waste minimisation skill.
Workshops
Workshops allow residents to learn new skills to reduce waste or hear from waste experts.
Some examples of workshops included bike maintenance, low waste living on a budget, sustainable goal setting, and composting.
To be kept in the loop on these or other City workshops, please visit What’s On or the City’s Facebook page.
Visit processing facilities
If you have ever wanted to see how the contents of the FOGO or recycling bin are processed, free visits to the Canning Vale Centre are available. Several public visits are organised for City of Fremantle residents throughout the year (see What’s On). Larger groups should contact the Resource Recovery Group (formerly SMRC) at tours@smrc.com.au or phone 08 9329 2700.
Incursions
Recycle Right delivers interactive and fun school waste education days for City of Fremantle schools. The incursions are for students aged between years 1-6 and cover topics such as gifting, recycling, earth cycling, avoiding and taking - they're G.R.E.A.T!
