HMAS Success Freedom of Entry 

Saturday 9 March 2019 I 9-9.30am | Market Street and South Terrace 

The Commanding Officer, Officers, Senior Sailors & Sailors of HMAS Success will exercise her Freedom of Entry on the occasion of her final visit to her home port of the City of Fremantle.

In accordance with military law and tradition this gives the military unit the right to march through the streets with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating, bands playing and banners flying.

The Mayor and Councillors of the City of Fremantle extend an invitation to the public to attend this momentous occasion.

Parade route

The march will depart from Pioneer Park, passing along Market Street and South Terrace on the Cappuccino Strip.

The traditional halt and challenge will take place in front of the Sail & Anchor on Henderson Street. 

Road and parking closures

The following road closures will be implemented from 8am – 10am on Saturday 9 March 2019. Traffic controllers will be at each closure point to allow local traffic only entry. Market Street and South Terrace will not be accessible to any vehicles during these hours.
Roads will reopen as soon as possible once the march has concluded. 

  • Market Street
  • South Terrace between Market Street & Suffolk Street
  • Cantonment Street between Queen Street & Market Street
  • Bannister Street between Market Street & Pakenham Street
  • Collie Street between South Terrace and Market Street
  • Parry Street between William Street & Norfolk Street

Parking Closures

The following parking closures will be implemented from 6am – 10am on Saturday 9 March.

  • Street parking on Market Street
  • Street parking on South Terrace between Market Street & Suffolk Street
  • Street parking on Cantonment Street between Queen Street & Market Street
  • Street parking on Bannister Street between Market Street & Pakenham Street
  • Street parking on Collie Street between South Terrace and Market Street
  • Street parking on Parry Street between William Street & Norfolk Street

CP10, CP16, CP61 and Henderson St car parks will remain open. Please just notify the friendly Traffic Controllers at the local road closure point for access.
