The City of Fremantle has been awarded $108,7100 to add lux LED floodlights to the two rectangular pitches at Ken Allen Field in Beaconsfield.

The City of Fremantle will make improvements to one of its sport and recreation facilities, with the receipt of a state government grant.

The City has been awarded $108,798 from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ Club Night Lights Program.

The project will provide 100 lux LED floodlights for the two rectangular pitches at Ken Allen Field in Beaconsfield.

The pitches are currently used by two winter sports for training purposes, but the inadequate lighting restricts their abilities after sunset.

Lighting the pitch to game standard will allow formal and informal competition to take place, expanding the playing space at Hilton Park.

This project is a result of a significant planning and community engagement process which formed the Hilton Park Masterplan, recently adopted by Fremantle Council.

The project continues to support the growth of community sport, allowing for flexibility of social and structured sport to take place at the reserve with sustainable LED lighting technology.
