Two weeks of talks, workshops, and experiences in Walyalup/Fremantle, 4–18 September 2026, building towards better futures.

Feeling stuck between doom and hope about the future?

Make/shift Festival isn’t here to promise it’ll all be fine. But it is a chance to re-evaluate everything, connect with a grittier kind of hope, and start building the just and joyful futures that might still be possible.

From 4th to 18th September 2026, Make/shift Festival takes over Walyalup Fremantle with two weeks of talks, workshops, screenings, and hands-on experiences exploring what better futures could look like, and how we get there together.

It’s for anyone with a stake in the future (so, everyone): leaders and artists, parents and policymakers, activists and everyday people. Come to one event or ten – make the festival your own.

The festival builds up to the Make/shift Summit on Friday 18 September: a one-day assembly on future-making strategy and practice, closing with drinks at the Make/shift Afterparty.
