Every year the City of Fremantle works with the community and local groups to plant new native plants and trees. As planting season begins, the City of Fremantle is working with local groups and partners to plant over 8,550 native seedlings across Fremantle. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, care about the natural environment, and enjoy coming together with other like-minded people — get involved with a local planting day! Planting days start on Sunday 18 May at Samson Park and continue across seven Fremantle planting areas throughout the months of May and June 2025. Everyone’s welcome, no matter what your age, or where you live. You’ll just need to bring your own gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection, and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. Samson Park Planting Day When: 9.30am-12pm, Sunday 18 May Where: Meet at the noticeboard off Sallenger Ave What to bring: BYO gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection, and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. Booyeembara Park Planting Day When: 9am-12pm, Sunday 25 May Where: Meet at Mountain bike carpark off Stevens Street What to bring: BYO gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection, and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. Come and support Friends of Booyeembara Park to install 600 native tubestock thanks to South East Regional Landcare Group. Come and support Friends of Hollis Park to install 1,000 native tubestock thanks to South East Regional Landcare Group. Clontarf Hill Planting Day When: 9am-12om, Sunday 8 June Where: Meet at the end of Gordon Road What to bring: BYO gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection, and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. Come and support Friends of Clontarf Hill to install 1,000 plants thanks to South East Regional Landcare Group. Stay for a chat with morning tea provided. Hosted by Friends of Clontarf Hill. Griffiths Park Community Planting Day When: 3.30-5pm, Friday 13 June Where: Meet at Griffiths Park What to bring: BYO gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. A special day for the Hilton community, Garden Verges and Trees (GVT) committee, City of Fremantle and Perth NRM, as we’ll also officially reveal our first cockitrough installation! Everyone is welcome. South Beach: Coastwest Planting Day When: 9am-12pm, Saturday 14 June Where: South Beach Recreational Reserve Playground What to bring: BYO gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection, and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. Come and help revegetate the dunes at South Beach with 3,500 native tubestock. This event is made possible with the support and funding from Perth NRM, Coastwest, Co-Exist Australia and Green S Force. Vegetarian curry lunch will be provided by Green S Force Please register at: South Beach Community Planting Day Cantonment Hill Planting Day When: 8am-12pm, Sunday 15 June Where: Meet at the signal station. Please note that parking is limited at the summit and it would be best to park close by and walk up. What to bring: BYO gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection, and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. Come and support Friends of Cantonment Hill to install 450 native tubestock. Stay for a chat and morning tea provided. Hosted by Friends of Cantonment Hill. Leighton Beach Planting Day When: 9am-12pm, Saturday 21 June Where: Leighton Beach – Meet on the lawn in front of Orange Box Cafe What to bring: BYO gloves, hat, water bottle, sun protection, and wet weather gear if rain is forecast. Come and help revegetate the dunes in front of the Surf Life Saving Club with 1,000 native tubestock. This event is made possible with the support and funding from Perth NRM, Co-Exist Australia, Perth Intrepid Landcare, South East Regional Landcare Group and the Federal.
