Update: Group Fitness space expansion at Fremantle Leisure Centre

Fremantle Leisure Centre (FLC) is receiving an exciting upgrade to its group fitness facilities, with works currently underway and expected to be completed by the end of July 2026.

The project will expand and elevate the current group fitness room into a more flexible, user‑friendly group fitness space, designed to better meet the needs of members. Importantly, the upgrades have been shaped directly by member feedback, reflecting a strong desire for more room, improved equipment, and greater comfort during classes.

Once complete, the expanded space will allow FLC to host larger group fitness classes, improving accessibility and enhancing the overall class experience. The works will also introduce a dedicated stretching area outside the main gym, providing members with a safer and more comfortable space for warm‑ups, cool‑downs and mobility work.

What this means during construction

While construction is underway, some temporary changes to group fitness programming will be required:

  • Classes will be relocated to Samson Recreation Centre or in the FLC Creche (outside of creche hours)
  • Class numbers have been reduced. Timetables are currently weekly and will be adjusted based on feedback and location preferences
  • Creche sessions are 9am to 11.30am and bookings can be made via the Group Fitness Booking app
  • For classes at Samson Recreation Centre, a pop-up creche is available.

Every effort will be made to minimise disruption, however changes may be influenced by factors such as weather conditions and the availability of alternative spaces.
