Bathers Beach swimming enclosure installed

A line of yellow buoys floats on calm blue water, leading to a yellow cone marker. In the background, a rocky breakwater and a marina with sailboats and buildings are visible under a clear blue sky.

Work to install a new swimming enclosure at Bathers Beach is now complete.

Work to install a new swimming enclosure at Bathers Beach is now complete, providing a unique experience for beachgoers to swim in a protected area right in the centre of Fremantle.

The 340m barrier runs between the breakwaters and sits about 125m offshore.

The barrier is intended for seasonal deployment from October to April each year.

Unfortunately, the first installation was delayed due to some last-minute design changes requiring additional approvals and prolonged due to adverse weather conditions and other unforeseen circumstances.

It’s expected that future deployments will be more streamlined.

For safe swimming in WA, beachgoers should always check the SharkSmart app before hitting the water.
