The existing 50 km/h speed limit on all roads bound by South Street, Carrington Street, Winterfold Road and Stock Road in Hilton will be adjusted to 40 km/h.

Main Roads WA has approved a 40km/h speed limit on all local roads in Hilton, following the City’s of Fremantle’s speed reduction trial.

Effective from 21 July 2025, all roads bound by South Street, Carrington Street, Winterfold Road and Stock Road will be adjusted to 40km/h.

Road users will start to see new “40 Area” signage installed around the perimeter as they turn onto the boundary roads.

“This is great news for the Hilton community who have actively campaigned to slow down local streets,” Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said.

The Fremantle city centre and South Fremantle already have 40km/h speed zones to ensure a safe environment for all road users.
