City of Fremantle CEO Glen Dougall said the City was consulted on the formulation of the traffic management plan and attends weekly meetings with the Swan River Crossings project team.

“We recognise that the bridge closure will be a challenging time for the community, but this is a major infrastructure project that must be undertaken and that will serve Fremantle well in the future,” Mr Dougall said.

The City has facilitated engagement between the project team and local businesses and residents to bolster their consultation with these important stakeholder groups.

“We will continue to advocate for ways to minimise the disruption for everyone, especially businesses, on both sides of the bridge.

“We will also support any measures to entice people off the road and onto public transport to get in and out of Fremantle during the closure period,” Mr Dougall said.

People are being encouraged to participate in the State Government’s community survey to provide feedback on alternatives to car usage during the closure period.
