Celebrating connection, community and the unique character of South Beach.

The new South Beach mural by artist Jack Bromell is now complete, transforming the southern wall of the South Beach Café into a striking artwork celebrating connection, community and the unique character of South Beach.

Commissioned through the City of Fremantle’s South Beach Mural Project, the hand-painted mural draws inspiration from the familiar moments, landscapes and social energy that make South Beach one of Fremantle’s most loved gathering places.

Jack said the work was inspired by “observations of South Beach, particularly the nature and the social aspect.”

“My style has developed over about 10 years and with this mural I was trying to use iconic silhouettes and make use of positive and negative space to create a familiar and calming image,” he said.

Asked about his favourite part of the finished mural, Jack said it was “probably the pontoon, because of its playfulness and how iconic it is to South Beach.”

He hopes the artwork encourages people to slow down and appreciate the small but meaningful elements that give South Beach its unique identity.

“What I hope people take away from seeing this mural is something familiar, but also something that slows you down and makes you appreciate these kinds of iconic aspects of South Beach that give it its unique character,” he said.

The mural adds to Fremantle’s growing collection of public art and further enhances South Beach as a vibrant community destination for locals and visitors alike.
