Road closures

• Mews Rd, Fremantle
  Date: 31 Aug – Mid Sept | Time: 7am-6pm (Mon-Fri)

  Mews Road, between Capo D’Orlando & Marine Terrace. will be closed from 31 August and expected to be completed by mid September. The closure will be implemented between 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Thompson Rd, North Fremantle 
  Date: 10 Sept | Time: 7pm-5am

  Thompson Road, between Staples Street & Leslie Road will be closed for pole replacement and maintenance works for Western Power.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Caeser Street between Grosvenor Street & Lefroy Road
  Date: 8-9 Sep | Time: 7am-5pmThis closure will be in place to complete concreting works for the footpath. Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Bellevue Terrace / Fothergill Street & Stevens Street
  Date: 11 Sep & 25 Sep | Time: 7am-4pm

  Please be advised Bellevue Terrace between Fothergill Street and Stevens Street will be closed for pole replacement and maintenance works for Western Power.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• McCleery Street / Lefroy Road & Martha Street 
  Date: 18 Sept | Time: 9am-2.30pm

  Please be advised there is upcoming works along McCleery Street between Lefroy Road and Martha Street Westbound for water main works being completed for Water Corporation.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Pakenham Street / Phillimore Street and Leake Street
  Date: 24 Sep | Time: 7pm-5am

  Please be advised there are upcoming night work closures for installation of a new fire service.

• Wray Avenue / Hampton Road & Carnac Street 
  Date: 29 Sept | Time: 11pm-4am

  Please be advised of the upcoming full road closure of Wray Avenue (Westbound only) for works by Western Power.

• Carrington Street & Winterfold Road 
  Date: 13 Sept – October 2026 | Time: Night works

  Please be advised of the upcoming road closures between

  • Winterfold Road; between Redmond Road and Longford Road – Eastbound Lane only
  • Carrington Street; between Leach Hwy / High St and Marmion Street – both lanes.

  Traffic management measures and detours will be implemented to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.

• Kwong Alley between Pensioner Guard Road and Swan Street, North Fremantle
  Dates: 3 Sep, 19 Oct and 7 Dec 2026 | Time: 7am – 5pm

The road will be closed to traffic between 7am and 5pm on the listed dates to allow the safe lifting of multiple air conditioning units onto nearby buildings. Access to properties will be maintained via Swan Street, and traffic controllers will be on site to assist motorists and pedestrians. Waste collection services will continue to have access on scheduled collection days.

Major works

Swan River Crossing

The Swan River Crossings Project is one of the most complex and challenging projects undertaken by Main Roads WA, involving road, port, freight, river, walking, cycling, heritage and environmental considerations.

The Fremantle Traffic Bridge will close Sunday 1 February, 2026 to enable completion of major works, including removal of the existing bridge, installation of the new bridge deck and construction of the new road.
