Road closures

 

  • Johannah St
    Date: 27 May – 27 June 2026 | Time: Mon to Fri, 7am – 5pm

    Johannah St, North Fremantle, will be subject to a full road closure to enable essential drainage works to be carried out safely and efficiently.

    Works are scheduled to commence on 27 May and are expected to be completed by 27 June.

    The road closure will be in place Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm. After-hours and on weekends, the road will be re-opened.


  • Swanbourne St & Montreat St intersection
    Date
    : 1-30 June 2026 | Time: 7pm – 5am
    The works form part of the City’s Low Cost Urban Projects (installation of plateaus), the intersection closures are required to safely and efficiently undertake the works. The intersection closures will be implemented intermittently throughout the month of June, between Monday to Saturday 7am to 5pm at the below locations:

    • Swanbourne St / Blinco St
    • Montreal St / Blinco St
    • Montreal St / Knutsford St

    Detours will be in place.


  • South Terrace – Multiple locations
    Date: 3 June 2026 | Time: 7am – 5pmThe following temporary road closures will be in place to enable Western Power pole works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    Each closure is expected to be in place for approximately 2–3 hours throughout the works period.

    • Price St (between Marine Tce & South Tce)
      Price Street will be closed to eastbound traffic only between Marine Terrace and South Terrace.
    • Scott St (between South Tce & Parmelia St)
      Scott Street will be fully closed between South Terrace and Parmelia Street.
    • Suffolk St (between Marine Tce & South Tce)
      Suffolk Street will be closed to eastbound traffic only between Marine Terrace and South Terrace.
    • Strang Ct
      A localised road closure will be in place within the dead-end section of Strang Court only.Detours will be in place where required, and traffic management will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
      Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.

  • Wray Ave (between Hampton Rd & South Tce)
    Date
    : 2 – 4 June 2026 | Time: 7pm – 5am

    Wray Ave will be fully closed between Hampton Road and South Terrace to enable road resurfacing works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    Detours will be in place, and traffic management will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
    Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.


  • Parry St (between Beach St & Queen Victoria St)
    Date: 7 June 2026 | Time: 7am – 5pm

    Parry St will be closed to traffic between Beach Street and Queen Victoria Street to facilitate cabling works.
    The right turn from Cantonment Street onto Parry Street will also be closed during these times.
    Traffic management measures, including signage and detours, will be implemented to guide motorists.


  • Stack St (intersection of Amherst St)
    Date: 8-12 June 2026 | Time: 24/7

    Stack Street will be subject to a road closure at the intersection of Amherst Street to enable water main upgrade works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    All other works along Amherst Street are expected to be completed within the verge area.
    Traffic management will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
    Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.


  • Pakenham Street
    Date: 10 – 11 June 2026 | Time: 7pm – 5am

    Pakenham Street will be fully closed between Phillimore Street and Leake Street to enable installation of a new fire service to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    Traffic controllers will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
    Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.


  • Carrington St
    Date
    : 16 – 17 June 2026 | Time: 8pm – 5am

    Carrington Street will be fully closed between Lefroy Road and South Street in both directions to enable works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    Detours will be in place, and notifications will be distributed closer to the time to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
    Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.


  • South St (between South Tce & Hampton Rd)
    Date
    : 18 – 19 June 2026 | Time: 8pm – 5am

    South Street will be fully closed between South Terrace and Hampton Road to enable road resurfacing works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
    Detours will be in place, and traffic management will be on site to assist motorists and maintain access where possible.
    Traffic signage and diversion routes will be implemented throughout the works period.


Major works

Swan River Crossing

The Swan River Crossings Project is one of the most complex and challenging projects undertaken by Main Roads WA, involving road, port, freight, river, walking, cycling, heritage and environmental considerations.

The Fremantle Traffic Bridge will close Sunday 1 February, 2026 to enable completion of major works, including removal of the existing bridge, installation of the new bridge deck and construction of the new road.
