Volunteer with us

Make a real difference at Fremantle Community Legal Centre

Our volunteers help our lawyers and non-legal staff deliver low-cost legal services and non-legal support to our community. You’ll build practical skills, work alongside experienced lawyers, and see the impact of community legal centres first-hand.

What you’ll do

Front desk & triage: answer client enquiries, take clear notes, and triage legal matters

Court attendance: assist our lawyers during court hearings, including our duty lawyers at Fremantle Magistrates Court

Appointments & tasks: sit in on advice appointments, draft file notes, complete legal research tasks and generally assist lawyers with file work

Volunteers don’t give legal advice. You’ll be coached and supervised throughout.

Why volunteer at FCLC?

Meaningful impact: your work helps more clients be seen, sooner

Real experience: courtroom exposure, triage skills, file-noting and professional communication

Mentoring and training: work with, and learn from, experienced lawyers

Recognition: reference letters/certificates for strong contributors

Career advancement: many of our previous volunteers have gone on to do amazing things in the legal space!
