The City of Fremantle is calling for young people aged 18 to 30 who want to influence positive change in their community.

The ChangeMakers program is a dynamic leadership and mentorship initiative designed to support young people to understand how change happens, build strategic leadership skills and actively contribute to the policies, plans and projects shaping Fremantle’s future.

Participants gain practical insight into how local, state and federal government decisions are made, and how they can use their voice to make a meaningful impact.

Each year the City selects up to 10 emerging leaders who have a strong connection to Fremantle and are motivated to drive positive social change.

The six-month program includes weekly sessions, workshops and guest speakers with real-world experience in advocacy, strategy and civic engagement.

Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in paid consultation opportunities with the City on issues they care about.

The 2026 ChangeMakers Program runs from March to July 2026. Applications are open from 30 January to 28 February 2026.

To be considered, applicants must be aged between 18 and 30, have a meaningful connection to Fremantle and be able to commit to the full program.
