Freo Pride Fest 2026

Freo Pride Fest is a free, family-friendly celebration of LGBTIQA+SB pride, inclusion, and creativity.

It will take place on Sunday 1 November 2026 at Walyalup Koort and the Fremantle Library.

The festival will feature a diverse program, including—but not limited to—information stalls, drop-in cultural and creative workshops, roving entertainment, skill-building opportunities, live music, and interactive experiences such as line dancing and a silent disco.

Seeking young creative artist for Freo Pride Fest 2026

The City is looking for a young artist or artist group to design and produce art for the Freo Pride Fest 2026 visual identity.

Freo Pride Fest is a free, family-friendly celebration of pride, inclusion and creativity taking place on Sunday 1 November 2026 in Walyalup/Fremantle.

We strongly encourage applications from people who identify as LGBTIQA+SB, as lived experience and connection to community are highly valued in this role.

This position works closely with LGBTIQA+SB communities, and we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and representative environment.

This is a unique opportunity for a young artist or artist collective to shape the festival’s creative direction, working closely with the City’s team to bring their concept to life. The successful applicant will receive up to $3,000 in funding and development support.

 

Timeline FAQ

  • 15 to 25 years of age
  • Have experience in working with Adobe Pro, Photoshop and can create posters, banners, booklets and social media formats
  • Identify as part of the LGBTIQA+SB community
  • Have a connection to Walyalup/Fremantle
  • Available to work over a 5-month implementation period
  • Final artwork to be a digital output

  • Applications live: 16 April to 22 May 2026, 5pm
  • Selection and nomination process: 25 May to 5 June 2026 *Including in-person meeting to discuss your concept, if required
  • Final selection of successful applicant: 8 June 2026
  • Artwork delivery: 31 July 2026
  • Implementation and final review: August to October 2026
  • Event date: 1 November 2026, 1-6pm

  • Artist development hours: $2,500 ($50 per hour for 50 hours of design work)
  • Inclusive of a fortnightly check-in meeting from June to October 2026: $500 (10 meetings x 1 hour each)
  • Equating to approximately 10 hours per month
  • Payment terms to be discussed with the chosen artist, either invoiced monthly or 50% up front and the final 50% the month prior to the event

  • Must be passionate about their LGBTIQA+SB community and how they can express that through the artwork
  • Must meet all the artist requirements
  • The final artwork must fit within corporate standards of access and inclusion
  • Must supply all the final working files in formats requested

    Open and read through the entire document carefully so you understand the role, expectations, and requirements.
  2. Review eligibility and requirements
    Check that you meet listed criteria (skills, experience, availability, etc.).
  3. Prepare your materials
    Gather anything you may need for the application (e.g., portfolio examples, contact details, short bio, CV if required).
  4. Complete the EOI (Expression of Interest) form
    Fill in all required sections accurately and clearly. Make sure your answers reflect your design experience and interest in the festival.
  5. Double-check your application
    Review everything for spelling, completeness, and correct attachments or links.
  6. Submit your application
    Submit the completed EOI form below, before the deadline 22 May 2026, 5pm.
