Wardarnji Festival 2026

A much-loved celebration of Nyoongar culture returns to Esplanade Park on Saturday 28 November, bringing an evening of dance, song, storytelling and community together in the heart of Walyalup/Fremantle.

Wardarnji 2026 invites audiences of all ages to experience the richness and diversity of Nyoongar culture through powerful traditional and contemporary performances, with more than 100 performers coming together for this special annual event.

Since 1998, Wardarnji has shared Nyoongar culture and traditions with the wider community, creating a space for people to connect through stories, music, dance and a deep connection to Country. The festival celebrates the living culture of the 14 Nyoongar clan groups of South West WA, with performances by dancers of all ages showcasing the strength, spirit and continuing legacy of Nyoongar traditions.

Alongside the performances, visitors can enjoy food from local vendors and explore market stalls featuring Nyoongar artists, makers and small business owners.

Whether you’re a longtime Wardarnji audience member or experiencing the festival for the first time, come along for an evening of cultural celebration, storytelling and community connection.

Food vendors open from 4pm, with performances beginning at 6pm.
