Membership to Fremantle Library is free for all WA residents! Simply register online to access free ebooks, audiobooks, music, children's stories, movies and emagazines. Ancestry access is also available until March 31, 2021. 

If you wish to borrow physical items, visit the library and enquire about full membership. You can register online first to speed up the process - just let us know when you visit.

Opening hours

The library is currently open per normal opening hours. 
JP is unavailable until further notice.

Sunday11am–3pm

In line with State government regulations, the following restrictions are in place until 12.01am Sunday 14 February at all our venues.

It is mandatory for all visitors to the library to check in via QR code or paper register, available at the library entrance. For more information and to download the SafeWA app click here.
All visitors and staff will also be required to wear a face mask, unless you meet an exemption.

Numbers are limited by the 4sqm rule and the library will have a maximum capacity of 80 people at any time. Please remember to keep a distance of 1.5m from other customers and staff.
The library will be open regular hours all week, however our regular programs, including Buster, CoderDojo and Tech Help for All, are cancelled until restrictions are lifted. More information coming soon.

Covid-19 mandatory contact register

The Western Australian Government has announced that mandatory contact registers at relevant businesses and venues will be introduced from Saturday 5 December 2020, which includes the Library.

Any person aged 16 and over who enters our venue will be required to register their contact details via the SafeWA app. To avoid delays on the day, we strongly encourage you to download it before you arrive via Apple App Store or Google Play.

Justice of the Peace (volunteer run, located in library 10am-1pm weekdays when volunteer available)
Community support worker under the LibraryConnect program. Regular hours are 1–6pm Tuesdays, 8.30am–5pm Wednesdays, 1–6pm Thursdays and 9am–1pm Saturdays.
