Contribute to the Fremantle City Plan

The City of Fremantle is making plans for the future and is seeking the community’s input on how to create a diverse, liveable and sustainable city centre.

These ideas will contribute to a City Plan that guides residential population growth and development in the city centre over the next 20 years.

The first step is to explore the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of Fremantle’s city centre. Comments on these factors are being collected in an interactive map and via a survey.

The City Plan aims to:

  • Establish a cohesive spatial blueprint guiding the city centre’s development for the next two decades.
  • Increase the residential population within the city centre.
  • Coordinate major projects, enhance infrastructure, and attract investment.
  • Create a well-connected, secure, and pedestrian-friendly urban environment.
  • Enrich our city's cultural assets while preserving its rich heritage.
  • Identify specific precincts within the city centre, significant place-based projects, and innovative development proposals.

Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said Fremantle could benefit from a larger population.

“The City Plan aims to bring together different ideas and strategies into a clear, visual and spatial blueprint to establish a vision for the way forward.

“It will investigate the capacity, implications and benefits of a range of growth scenarios for the city centre’s population, which currently stands at only 3,000 people,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
