The City of Fremantle’s Sporting Club Assistance Program aims to increase community participation in sport and recreation through the provision of financial assistance.

Applications must meet the eligibility and program criteria, and be requests for financial assistance:

  • With costs associated with attending courses targeted at increasing skill level of committee members, volunteers and administrators in order to effectively run club activities
  • To new clubs through the initial phase of incorporation and set up fees
  • With club events such as come and try or open days
  • With costs associated with purchase of essential equipment (not to exceed 50 per cent of total costs).

Eligibility

To apply for assistance under this program, applicants must:

  • Be incorporated not-for-profit sport and recreation club
  • Be based or operating within the City of Fremantle and servicing a significant number of local residents
  • Have no outstanding monies owing to the City.

The Application Process

  1.  Contact the City’s Community Development – Health and Wellbeing Officer to discuss the potential project and subsequent application, grantfunding@fremantle.wa.gov.au
  2. Complete the Sporting Club Assistance Application Form online via the City’s Smarty Grants portal. Please ensure you have relevant supporting documentation including quotes.
  3. Submit your application.

Once you have submitted your application you will receive an email of acknowledging receipt. Please note that the City seeks to provide an outcome within 10 working days. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions via email.

The Fremantle Sport Access Assistance Program provides financial assistance for local young people to participate in community sport and physical recreation programs.

Eligibility

  • Be a resident of the City of Fremantle
  • Be aged 25 or younger
  • Have or be named on a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card
  • Not have been approved for KidSport in the same calendar year.

Program Criteria

  • Successful applicants will only be eligible for the Sport Access Assistance program once in a financial year
  • Applications for assistance must be made a minimum of 15 working days prior to the sports activity/program start date
  • Retrospective applications will not be accepted.

The Application Process

  1. Complete the Sport Access Assistance Application Form online via the City’s Smarty Grants portal.
  2. Submit your application.

The Fremantle Sport Travel Assistance Program helps young local athletes or officials by the provision of financial assistance towards travel expenses for state, national, or international competitions.

Eligibility

To apply for assistance under this program, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of the City of Fremantle
  • Be aged 25 or younger, as of the competition date
  • Be travelling more than 100km outside of the City of Fremantle
  • Have been selected by the State or National Sporting body to represent Western Australia or Australia.

This must be demonstrated with a letter of selection from that State or National body accompanying the application.

Program Criteria

  • Successful applicants will only be eligible for the Sport Travel Assistance program once in a financial year
  • Applications for assistance must be made a minimum of 15 working days prior to the competition start date
  • Retrospective applications will not be accepted.

KidSport is a program administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries which makes it possible for eligible children to participate in community sport and recreation by offering up to $500 per calendar year towards club registration fees.

Eligible children must be:

  • Aged 5-18 years
  • Listed on a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.

The State government is providing financial assistance to community groups and local governments to develop sports floodlighting infrastructure.
