Our new parking meters use pay-by-plate technology and are paperless, so you will no longer need to display a parking ticket!
Our new easy-to-use parking meters have a number of benefits:
The new parking meters provide an easier and more reliable parking experience and compliments the City’s recent transition to the EasyPark app.
Our new parking meters utilise Pay-by-Plate technology and are ticketless, meaning you can use tap’n’go payments on your smart device and via credit or debit card.
Pay-by-Plate technology uses your vehicle’s licence plate number to record your parking time and payment, removing the need to display a paper ticket on your vehicle dash.
How to pay:
Enter your vehicle licence plate number: Begin by entering your vehicle’s licence plate number using the keypad on the meter’s screen.
Select Parking Duration: Next, select the amount of time you intend to park within the designated zone’s parking time limit. You can adjust the duration with the appropriate buttons on the screen.
Payment: Pay for your parking by either tapping your phone or using your credit or debit card. You can still choose to pay with cash at many locations. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the payment process.
Obtain Receipt: You can obtain an electronic (e-receipt) or paper receipt at the time of purchase.
Many of the parking meters will still accept cash. On-site signage will indicate locations that still offer this option.

What entitlements does an ACROD permit provide?
An ACROD parking permit allows free parking in all City of Fremantle car parks and street parking with double the signposted time limit (except where a time limit is shown on dedicated ACROD bays).
A similar benefit is also available for Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) ex-serviceperson permit holders, though that permit is not valid for use in an ACROD parking bay.
Our universal access map has details of ramps and pathways. For visitors, official disabled parking permits issued worldwide are accepted in Fremantle.

Under Local Government (Parking for People with Disabilities) Regulations 2014, a vehicle parked in an ACROD bay, without display of a valid permit, can be infringed $300.
Motorbike bays are located around the city and are free of charge. They may have time restrictions – refer to the displayed signs. Motorbikes are permitted to park in car bays, however applicable parking fees must be paid and stated time limits apply.
When purchasing a ticket to park your motorbike in a car bay, we recommend you retain the tear-off section of the ticket so that proof of purchase can be provided should an infringement be issued due to the ticket having blown away or been removed.

The ‘loading zone’ sign and our parking local law requires vehicles using loading zones to be a ‘goods vehicle’. A ‘goods vehicle’ means a vehicle specifically designed, constructed and used primarily for the conveyance of goods (not being a trailer or a vehicle to which a trailer is attached). A vehicle that is not classified as a ‘goods vehicle’ can utilise a loading zone for business purposes however the vehicle must have the business name or logo at least 100mm high on both sides of the vehicle.
If you do not have a ‘goods vehicle’ and your vehicle is not needed for business purposes, but you still require access to a loading zone, please see the Reserved Parking Application form.
Most loading zones in Fremantle allow a maximum time limit of 15 minutes. If the loading zone does not have a time limit displayed, the maximum time limit is 30 minutes.
Loading zones should only be used by vehicles who are loading or unloading goods.
School drop off and pick up times can be quite stressful for parents and students alike. Most of the City’s schools are located in high density areas, and parking may not always be available for all parents.
Initiatives by schools such as walking school bus, carpooling schedules and ride to school programs are supported by the City. The City works closely with schools to ensure safety and convenience for all road users. Given the limited space near schools, parents are requested to:
Your cooperation is much appreciated when parking near schools. The City’s Integrated Patrols Officers frequently patrol schools and enforce the Parking Local Law to assist with safe flow of traffic.
To report any illegal parking around schools, or request patrols, contact the customer service team on 1300 MYFREO (1300 693 736) or info@fremantle.wa.gov.au.
